The world is a buzz with Royal Wedding chatter... and I am all for it. I love talking about royal matchings, probably because of all my fond memories of the glory days when Damon {Albarn of Blur} and Justine {Frischmann of Elastica} ruled the Britpop scene.
These days I get to fantasize of the regal day to days of Ad-Rock and Kathleen Hanna {who brilliantly blend mainstream and indie success into one fantastic machine}. And, of course, the cutest couple of all time award goes to Thurston Moore & Kim Gordon {followed closely by Matt & Kim in second place}.
Who are your favorite {indie-rock} royal couples past and present, local and national?
Bad Lieutenant, the new band formed by frontman Bernard Sumner (Joy Division, New Order), guest drummer Stephen Morris (Joy Division, New Order), guitarist Phil Cunningham (New Order), and guest Alex James (Blur) has released "Sink or Swim," the first single off of Never Cry Another Tear on their MySpace page.
The song will be made available as a free download beginning August 28th and if you sign up as a member of the Bad Lieutenant mailing list at www.badlieutenant.net, you will receive the track as part of a mass mailing. The download will only be available for a limited time, and the album will not be released until October, so act quickly if you like it and you want continued access to it.
Latest comment by: Anonymous: "The ablum is going to be great and the new single Sink or Swim is very good also, anything that Bernard Sumner touches gold, but one thing that is bothering me so much is the album artwork, New Order and anything related to their music comes with great artwork but ...
Even the mention of the name Damon Albarn makes me weak in the knees. You can imagine my excitement when the rumor came true - I'll be able to gaze into dear Damon's sweet eyes... in the new Gorillaz documentary, Bananaz. Sure it's not a NEW ALBUM or anything, but it'll definitely do.
The documentary will premiere online Babelgum.com on Monday, April 20th - but until that time the Babelgum site has posted trailers, clips, games, footage, and a couple fan competitions to hold us over. NUM!

And this time, no animated monkeys! Let's hope everyone can keep their egos in check long enough to inspire them to eventually travel stateside.
Latest comment by: Imaginary Mimi: "Jessicles- excellent Blur pun ;) Well played, Madame. Now that Coxon is off the sauce, at least half the drama is resolved. I don't wanna be too excited, but I kinda can't help it. I really did love me some Blur. Now, if only Jarvis Cocker would ...
How I start off the fun of the 8 day with a list of my favorite show moments I wasn't at as told in YouTube videos?
Graham Coxon takes time to talk about that whole Blur vs Oasis thing and UK vs US bands. Interesting!
Latest comment by: imaginary liz: "Ok - it looks like I *am* the only one who worries about what Graham is / is not wearing and still interested in the back story behind the Oasis / Blur thing. That's ok, I suspected as such anyway. :)"
No Blur for us after all.
Latest comment by: Marion: "Thanks for posting that video, that was fun. For some reason, I randomly decided to listen to Parklife a few days ago, funny. Sigh..."
The rumors that Graham and Damon are going to get back together to make some Blur magic are still unsubstantiated, but it's comforting to hear that Graham is warming back up to the co-writer way of thinking by working on a single with Jam frontman (and mega-idol) Paul Weller.
Blur has reunited, and it feels so good.
Latest comment by: imaginary liz: "Me too - I'm all about the Albarn/Coxon synergy. I'm giddy with anticipation and am clearing space in my head to memorize new lyrics."
Just because it is now officially NME Thursday, how about we talk about the Greatest Indie Anthems ever... and what NME / Xfm and the general UK public think they are.
Latest comment by: Atlanta Personal Injury Lawyer: "I think Champagne Supernova should have been higher on the list. As well as Wonderwall. Those were songs that like defined my mid schooling years. Everyone listened to Oasis no matter who you were, what you liked, whether you were popular or ...
